A little but about myself besides my profession. I am an African American woman from Detroit, MI. I am a wife and a mother. As a wife and mother, there are many challenges...multitasking, running a home, working, raising a family and many more. I know full well how challenging this can be. All this being said, I understand “Life” quite a bit. Given this opportunity, I can help guide and support you through your challenges to a more fulfilling and peaceful life through a variety of interventions such as EMDR, CBT, insight oriented and DBT modalities.
I am a Trauma-Focused Therapist with over 12 years of experience supporting individuals and families as they navigate trauma, maternal mental health, and emotional healing. My work focuses on helping clients who have experienced trauma, abuse (sexual, emotional, physical), anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, domestic violence, blended families, and major life transitions.
Welcome, I am so glad you are here! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a passion for supporting people through life’s most challenging and transformative moments. My practice is dedicated to fostering client growth, emotional resilience, and mental wellness through evidence-based practices in diverse populations.
I understand how intimidating it can be to reach out for help, and I deeply respect the courage it takes to begin this journey. Therefore, my focus is building a strong therapeutic relationship, allowing clients to feel secure enough to explore difficult emotions and experiences; being client-centered, validating experiences without imposing judgments or assumptions; practicing cultural sensitivity and humility, with mindfulness of how culture, race, religion, gender identity, sexuality, and lived experiences shape a client’s worldview and mental health; empowering clients to explore, learn, and build tools to manage their lives more effectively; and focusing on the client’s goals and values.
Clear, honest communication is a powerful tool for healing and growth. In our work together, you can expect a space that is warm and supportive, but also direct and intentional. I practice active listening, utilize humor when appropriate, and will give you opportunities to reflect on your experiences, with calmness and patience. I will ask meaningful questions and challenge unhelpful patterns with compassion, designed to help you build the tools to confidently navigate life’s challenges.
Have you been feeling stuck? Struggling to get out of bed each morning? If depression, anxiety, trauma, or challenges from ADHD/neurodiversity are making it difficult for you to get through the day, therapy can be a great tool to help you find a solution to navigating these experiences. I have over five years of experience working in various mental health settings where I have developed specific skills and strategies to help you live a more meaningful and satisfying life.
Looking forward to meeting you!
