I specialize in working with teens and adults navigating things like school refusal, emotional dysregulation, anger, self harm, anxiety, depression, OCD, life transitions, and personal growth. I work with teens ages 13 to 18 as well as adults, and my goal is to create a space where you feel understood, supported, and not alone in what you are going through.
Outside of my work, I enjoy being creative, staying organized, and spending time with my husband, our dog, and our two daughters, which helps me stay grounded and connected in my own life as well.
Hi, I’m Raven, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker dedicated to supporting individuals as they navigate life’s complexities and move toward healing and growth. I believe in creating a warm, genuine connection where you feel safe, understood, and supported. Through a collaborative and compassionate approach, I work alongside you to help you build insight, foster resilience, and make meaningful changes that enhance your overall well-being and quality of life.
Although I am recently clinically licensed (Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, LCPC), I am not new to the mental health field. Over my nearly decade of fulfilling work, I have enjoyed 5 years in therapeutic school settings with youth ages 5-years-old to 19-years-old, navigating crises through a therapeutic and trauma-informed lens as an Employee Assistant Program (EAP) counselor and through certifications in both Crisis Prevention Intervention and Therapeutic Crisis Prevention and Intervention models, supporting parents and families through a guardian support group for children in the therapeutic school setting as a facilitator for the past 3 years, and obtaining a Level 1 Certification in Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE) through the Yale Child Study Center. As a result of my success in treating students and families who are impacted by school avoidance/refusal, I was selected to present to parents about concrete strategies, and was consulted in the development of a school avoidance/school refusal school response protocol. Additionally, an anti-racism intervention I co-created for students on the spectrum and their families is now used as a resource and response to school incidents involving racism. My training began with a Bachelor’s in Social Worker from the University of Cincinnati, and ended with a Master’s in Counseling Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology.
I have worked with young people and their families with a wide range of emotional, behavioral, academic, and social needs. I bring a multiculturally-aware, strengths-based approach to therapy and common work with individuals on the neurodivergence spectrum, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, diagnoses of Attention Hyperactivity Deficit Disorder, anxiety, depression, Pathological Demand Avoidance, learning disabilities, gender and sexuality, and parent support and coaching.
Your mind can be loud even when everything looks fine from the outside. You may be replaying conversations because of anxiety, struggling to keep up with an ADHD brain, feeling disconnected from yourself during depression, or noticing that food and eating have begun taking up more emotional space than you want. You deserve somewhere you can talk about what is really happening without feeling judged or expected to have it all figured out. I provide virtual individual therapy for adolescents and adults throughout Illinois, with a focus on anxiety, ADHD, depression, and eating disorders. I also support clients navigating relationship and family concerns, stress, grief and loss, trauma and PTSD, women’s issues, identity exploration, and LGBTQIA+ or transgender experiences when those concerns are part of the bigger picture. My goal is to offer a warm, affirming space where you can understand yourself more clearly, reconnect with your strengths, and begin feeling more comfortable in your own life.

Grounded in a trauma-informed perspective and supported by evidence-based practices, I bring care, steadiness, and flexibility to the work. I have extensive experience in crisis intervention, group therapy, and individual psychotherapy. My hope is that clients feel genuinely seen, supported, and free to explore what healing can look like for them.

As your therapist I strive to create a warm, safe, engaging space where we can explore your strengths and build a do-able plan to help get you through the tough spots. Welcome to Family Forward Therapy, a Texas-based group practice offering virtual therapy for children, teens, adults, couples, and families. Our team includes therapists with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and areas of focus so we can help connect you with someone who fits your individual needs.
I’m Roberto Martinez, therapist and founder of Family Forward Therapy. I’ve built a team of clinicians with different backgrounds, specialties, and experiences so that clients have more options when looking for the right therapist.
We work with concerns including anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, relationship and family challenges, parenting stress, grief, life transitions, and more. Our clinicians also bring experience working with populations and concerns that can sometimes be harder to find specialized support for.
When you schedule through this profile, you are connecting with Family Forward Therapy rather than only one individual therapist. After you book, we may contact you briefly to learn what type of therapy you’re seeking and what you would like help with. Based on your needs, preferences, availability, and insurance, your appointment may be reassigned to another therapist within our practice who may be a better fit.
Our goal is simple: help you get connected with the right therapist without having to spend weeks searching.
I believe in empowering people to take charge of their own present and future lives. Generally, when you seek therapy, you are overwhelmed and ready to change. I believe you have it within yourself to make sense of your life, focus on creating the life you desire, and feel in control. I use strength and solution-based, client -centered psychotherapy. I am nonjudgmental, compassionate, and have a sense of humor. Regardless of the weight of therapy, we will also laugh!
ADHD is my superpower and I enjoy helping clients make sense of the chaotic mind. If you are constantly overthinking before bed or feeling paralyzed by your daily to-do list, we will work together to break that cycle. I understand past experiences, often unidentified traumas, shape how we show up in present interactions. Life transitions can be difficult, and it is my pleasure to assist you whether you are changing careers, expanding or downsizing in family roles, or just trying to decide what's next. Life stressors are inevitable, but they don't have to be anxiety-filled experiences.
Sometimes the hardest part is just being able to show up as yourself without editing anything out. I work with teens, young adults, and adults working through anxiety, stress, and big life transitions, and I have a particular focus on supporting people in the LGBTQIA+ community who want a space that feels genuinely affirming. Whether you are navigating identity, family dynamics, or just trying to feel more like yourself, I want our sessions to be a place where you do not have to perform or have it all figured out.
